Born : Trinidad 1934

Education :

Paul was born in Trinidad in 1934, educated at Clifton College, after which he studied Furniture and Interior Design at the West of England College of Art, Bristol where he gained Honours in the NDD in Furniture Design. After obtaining a National Service commission in the Army, he followed a career designing in the furniture trade before redundancy in 1986 gave him the opportunity to start a new career in painting.

Using his drafting talents, he learnt the skills of water media painting and his water colours show a masterly control of the medium. At the same time he tried his hand at painting in Oils finding the medium both exciting and compatible to his free and expressive style. His subject matter is wide spread including architecture, street scenes, landscapes, and marine subjects.

Exhibited Work :

He exhibits regularly in the major exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, and has been hung in the RA Summer Exhibition, as well as in many Galleries in the UK, and in Holland, France, Dubai, and USA.

Awards :

Having won prizes at the Royal Watercolour Society in 2000, and the Royal Institute in 2002, and at Chelsea Art Society, and the Armed Forces Art Society, he was invited to become a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 2004, and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 2005, and to his delight in 2006 he was invited to become an Associate member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.

He is also a member of the Wapping Group of Artists, who specialize in painting the river Thames and its tributaries. He tutors at Dedham Suffolk twice a year and at Summerleaze Gallery in Wiltshire. He is President of the Wokingham and District Art Group.
